Dstl’s Naval Systems Department provides analysis and systems advice to the Ministry of Defence (MOD) to enable the effective procurement and operation of Naval assets. This advice is focused on maintaining the military advantage of maritime platforms and equipments, both above and underwater. Specific advice is provided on the integration and effectiveness of weapon systems (lethal, non-lethal and deterrent), sensor systems and defensive applications (anti-ship missile, counter torpedo) and advice on maritime counter-terrorism. The Department’s capabilities include Effects Analysis, maritime awareness and sensors, data analysis, and maritime survivability.  Specialisations include maritime systems engineering and systems integration.
