Parents, step-parents or legal guardians of pre-school children can receive vouchers to help pay towards their childcare costs.
Salary sacrifice scheme for childcare vouchers
Dstl runs a salary sacrifice scheme for employees who have childcare responsibilities for school-age children. This scheme allows you to give up a proportion of your salary and receive vouchers to pay for childcare instead. By sacrificing part of your salary you pay less tax and National Insurance.
Maternity leave
After a year all female employees are entitled to up to 52 weeks' maternity leave (paid and unpaid). Normal pay is usually paid for 26 weeks, followed by 13 weeks of Statutory Maternity Pay.
Paternity leave
Two weeks paid paternity leave is available for those employees who meet the qualifying criteria.
Adoption leave
After a year adoptive parents may be entitled to up to 52 weeks adoption leave (paid and unpaid). Normal pay is usually paid for 26 weeks, followed by 13 weeks of Statutory Adoption Pay. If a couple is adopting one parent is entitled to adoption leave and pay, and the other is entitled to paternity leave and pay, provided that the appropriate qualifying criteria is met.
Parental leave
Parental leave (unpaid) is available to look after a child or to make arrangements for the child's welfare.
