Working Flexibly

Career breaks
Employees can now apply for a Career Break up to 12 Months.

Alternative working patterns
Alternative working patterns maybe agreed to help you combine other activities with your career. Alternative working is a formal agreement and might mean:

  • Part-time working
  • Job Sharing
  • Term-time working
  • Annualised hours
  • Home working (under a formal agreement)

Flexible working
Dstl operates a flexible working scheme that allows you to complete your contracted hours flexibly and vary the structure of your working day.

The scheme allows you freedom to arrange hours to suit your lifestyle and domestic circumstances.

Special paid leave
Dstl looks at situations where you need to take time off to fulfil voluntary or personal obligations sympathetically - often granting additional paid leave. Dstl will also consider granting paid leave for employees to attend Civil Service and Ministry of Defence sporting events and for those who’re reservists.
