I joined Dstl a month ago as a graduate. I’d seen adverts at the Institute of Physics virtual careers fair. I was aware of various benefits that Dstl could offer, including helping with relocation costs, flexible working options, final salary pension scheme and various discounts and subsidised sports clubs. The main thing that stood out about Dstl above other potential employers is the work that is done here. There is the opportunity to meet people from a wide range of backgrounds, including the Armed Services, and the potential opportunity later in my career to directly influence important decisions made by the MoD.

I was fortunate - Dstl Helped me financially to cover the costs incurred while looking for a flat in Salisbury (petrol, hotel). My colleagues have been very helpful settling me in. Within two weeks I at least knew who to ask to find anything I needed in Salisbury. People are very friendly and I was lucky enough to go on a group away day within weeks of starting which helped me get to know the people I'll be working with.

I have been working here one month and have already been away on a computer programming course and am due to attend another similar course this month. As long as it is relevant to the work you are doing I've found getting courses approved very easy. There are several induction courses for new starters which help you find your feet.

There is a decent on-site restaurant and several cafes dotted around. The on-site football pitches available for staff are a personal highlight.
