the right information at the right time is key. The Information Management
Department of the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory
(Dstl) exists to supply the very best, impartial, scientific
and technical research and advice to the MOD and
other government departments. For us, that means tackling some of the
most challenging and complex science and technology Information Management
problems facing the UK. Our team
of 180 is made up of some of nation’s most talented and creative
scientists, analysts and system thinkers.
We are not just solving today's problems. We are identifying and providing
guidance and direction on how UK Government prepares and tackles future
and emerging Information Management issues.
The specific areas that IMD provides leading technical capability are
grouped into the following capability areas:
- Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance
(ISTAR) Information and Intelligence concentrating on Processing,
Exploitation and Dissemination aspects
- Communications Systems and Security
- Information Infrastructure
- Information Operations
- Computer Forensics
- Software Systems Engineering for Safety, Mission Critical and Security
Critical Software Assurance
- Human systems capability integration
