Chemical Weapons Demilitarisation Conferences

The international series of CWD conferences bring together the world’s largest gathering of professionals involved in the demilitarisation of chemical weapons, many holding senior positions within Government, the Armed Forces, Industry, Academia and R&D establishments across the globe. They attract representatives from oven seventeen countries.

CWD conferences have been held annually all over the world for the last 10 years. The first conference was held in 1998 in Bournemouth, UK and since then the conferences have been held in Vienna, The Hague (twice), Gifu, Prague, St Petersburg, The Russian Federation, Edinburgh, United Kingdom, Lüneburg, Federal Republic of Germany and the most recent one was held in Brussels, Belgium.

The aim of these conferences is to promote co-operation between Governments, Organisations, Industry and the World Research Community, in order to address and provide potential technical and practical solutions to the key problems associated with Chemical Weapons Disposal. Thus they provide an ideal opportunity for delegates to develop knowledge, contacts, and friendship with the aim of working together for a safer, cleaner world.
