Student Autonomous Underwater Competition – Europe (SAUC-E) 2008
SAUC-E has been designed to advance Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) technology. It is hoped this will be achieved by challenging the next generation of engineers and scientists to design and build an AUV and then perform realistic missions in the underwater environment.
The competition will encourage young engineers and scientists to think about underwater technology and its future possibilities, as well as fostering ties between the students and the organisations involved in AUV technologies.
SAUC-E 2008 mission and rules
SAUC-E 2008 is to be hosted by DGA (France) and held at IFREMER, Brest, France.
7 - 11 July 2008
The competition includes both static and autonomous assessment.
The static assessment will require a conference quality written report and oral presentation that covers the design of the vehicle, integration choices and team structure.
The autonomous assessment will require the vehicle to perform given tasks to show the capabilities of the design.
